Year 1 visit to Beamish

 December 2025

Year 1 had a brilliant time during our recent visit to Beamish, which provided a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore and discuss the differences and similarities between toys of the past and those of today. It was a joy to observe the children engaging with traditional board games and enjoying the toys from earlier eras.

We also had the chance to visit the mine, where the children learned about the lives of miners, gaining valuable insights into historical working conditions. Although it was dark, small and damp, the children were very brave and excited.

We also discovered a park, where the children enjoyed ten minutes of playtime, adding to the overall experience.

The staff member at the toy workshop remarked that our class was the most enthusiastic and well-behaved group he had encountered in a long time. The children are very proud of themselves, and rightly so!
