West End Schools' Trust

Broadwood Primary School is very fortunate to be part of the West End Schools' Trust (WEST), a foundation trust comprising nine primary schools situated in the inner west of Newcastle upon Tyne. Collectively, we are responsible for the education of approximately two thousand seven hundred pupils, ranging from three months to eleven years of age. Our strong learning community ensures that all children enjoy high-quality educational experiences. An example of this is that our weekly after school clubs take place at the Theatre Royal and Life Science Centre

The geographical catchment of our schools spans an area of ten square miles, bordered by the River Tyne, the Northumberland County boundary, and the main conurbation of Newcastle. This region boasts a rich industrial and historic heritage, with Hadrian's Wall running through our cluster. Our diverse catchments present a socio-economic mix that contributes to a vibrant learning environment. Pupils leave our schools exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.

Currently, our Trust employs nearly four hundred dedicated professionals, including teachers, teaching assistants, and administrative staff. Our leadership teams, comprising experienced headteachers, governors, deputy and assistant headteachers, and school business managers, have established a proven track record of school improvement. The Trust enhances collaborative efforts with key partners, focusing on elevating standards and expanding opportunities for children, parents, staff, and the broader community.

The nine schools within the West End Schools' Trust, which include Bridgewater, Broadwood Primary School, Canning Street Primary School, Hawthorn Primary School, Moorside Primary School, St John's Primary School, St Paul's Primary School, Wingrove Primary School, and Lemington Riverside Primary School, share fundamental values: a warm and welcoming ethos, good and outstanding teaching and learning, educational achievement that meets or exceeds national expectations, and multicultural, highly inclusive, and cohesive school communities.
