Outdoor Learning

We prioritise providing children with high-quality outdoor learning experiences that enhance their knowledge, skills, and understanding. Mr Mingstone, our dedicated forest school teacher, collaborates closely with classroom teachers to ensure that outdoor learning is seamlessly integrated with the year group curriculum and current topics. For instance, during Year 5's exploration of The Benin Kingdom, Mr Mingstone enriched their educational experience by facilitating outdoor activities that culminated in the children designing and constructing a model of The Benin Kingdom.  Year 4 learnt frapping and  lashing to secure sticks as part of their Design and Technology Pavillion project. This approach not only deepens their learning but also fosters creativity and teamwork.

Children across school are extremely enthusiastic about their learning in the Forest school and children often tell me "Today is the best day as we get to do Forest School" and they often return to class very muddy yet very happy.
