Our Vision for our SEN children

Our Vision for our children with Special Educational Needs

At Broadwood Primary, we believe in providing an inclusive education for all children, with the ethos that every child is at the centre of everything we do. It is paramount to us that our children feel happy and engaged during their time at school. We recognise and respect each child's individual learning style, ensuring that they are set high yet achievable targets that empower them to realise their true potential. Every child is entitled to appropriate support while being simultaneously encouraged to develop as independent learners. Integral to this process is maintaining regular, positive communication between staff and parents/carers, which enriches the child’s learning journey.

To facilitate the achievement of each child’s potential, our staff participate in ongoing training, both whole school and individual, to adeptly meet the diverse needs of children within their classes. We have established specific support groups focusing on areas such as handwriting, reading, numeracy, and well-being.

We offer tailored interventions which may include occupational therapy and speech and language programmes. For some children, we also collaborate with external professionals, such as Sensational and the SEMH team, to provide additional support.

Parents are encouraged to attend regular meetings, and we uphold an open-door policy for both the class teacher and the SEND lead. Mrs Rachel Dangerfield is the SEND lead at our school and regularly attends network meetings organised by the local authority and our West End Schools' Trust, ensuring that best practices are shared and implemented effectively within our school community.
