Safeguarding

At Broadwood Primary School, we are unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, staff, and the wider school community. Every individual who is part of our school shares our overarching objectives to ensure the safety of children and young people. We strive to create an environment that is not only safe but also secure, enabling children and young people to learn and develop to their full potential.

Our dedicated team is proactive in identifying children who may be suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm. We take appropriate action to guarantee their safety both at home and in school. Our Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (P.S.H.C.E.) curriculum is designed to empower children by providing them with experiences that teach them how to keep themselves safe in a variety of situations.

We ensure that our pupils are educated about behaviours that are unacceptable and that they each have a trusted adult they can approach for advice or support. All staff members receive comprehensive training on safeguarding issues on an annual basis.

The Headteacher serves as our Designated Safeguarding Lead Teacher, ensuring that all staff are well-informed of the procedures to follow should they have any concerns regarding a child’s welfare.

In addition, we have established an E-safety policy, which has been communicated to all staff. Parents and carers can access this policy via our website. We strongly encourage all children and parents/carers to sign our E-safety agreement, which outlines essential strategies for staying safe online and the necessary actions to take if they feel unsafe. Internet safety education is delivered to children from Reception to Year 6, and we organise dedicated E-safety sessions for parents and carers.

Broadwood Primary School is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all our children. We take any incidents of bullying very seriously; such events are promptly and effectively addressed when they arise.

The policy below is awaiting ratification which will be completed no later than 20th September 2025.
