Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Statement

We want all children to be the very best that they can be. We are therefore fully committed to designing and shaping a curriculum that enables children to achieve this. We continuously reflect on our curriculum offer and amend when necessary inorder to provide the best possible education.

Our curriculum is designed so that our children’s needs are at the heart of the curriculum. All children have access to a broad and structured curriculum in which they can learn relevant skills, knowledge and vocabulary, preparing them for the challenges they face in life and also for the next stage of their education.

We will continuously strive to ensure that by the end of their Broadwood journey....

Every child will be a happy, confident, articulate, reflective and resilient person, fully prepared to embrace the next chapter of their life. All children will have a love of learning and feel empowered to embrace new opportunities and challenges.

Children will become avid readers and have the ability to read for meaning, enabling them to access our curriculum and deepen their understanding further.

Children will be accepting of others and demonstrate respect and empathy. They will support and inspire each other.

Children will be adaptable and fully equipped to manage challenging situations, making the right decisions and demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude.

They will absolutely continue to flourish at secondary school as they confidently build on the secure knowledge, skills and understanding of the primary curriculum. They will have an understanding of the world around them and know they have a place in the world.

Children will feel valued, hopeful and have the ambition to achieve success and be the very best that they can be, in everything that they do. Achievements will be celebrated and children will feel proud of their own and their peers’ successes!

Curriculum Drivers

Our curriculum drivers, Oracy, Reading and Personal, Social, Health and Economics have been identified as priorities for our children due to the context of our school and needs of our children. We firmly believe that if we develop our drivers effectively throughout our curriculum and beyond, children will achieve greater success in life.

We will never give up on any of our children! We want every child to be the very best they can be, and we will always go the extra mile to support them to achieve this.
