Year 3 Puppet Project

14th January 2019

We are very pleased to be part of the ‘Story Well’ puppet project for primary school children which aims to develop social and emotional wellbeing.

On Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th January 2019 our Year 3 children took part in a workshop which used puppetry to measure key areas of social and emotional wellbeing.  The workshops lasted approximately 1 hour and children took part in groups of up to 15.

The workshops were narrated by an Explorer (professional Actor and Puppeteer) who was on the hunt for 5 mysterious puppet creatures hiding deep in a jungle of trees and rocks. Children were asked to think about how similar they were to each puppet creature, and to throw one of their ‘magic coins’ into the ‘Well’.

The coins then made the creature appear and the children spent some time playing with the puppet.  This helped the children to learn to understand that it is okay to feel a range of different emotions and to learn how to express how they are feeling.

Some of the children have been selected to take part in further workshops so that they learn even more about social and emotional wellbeing,
