Democracy in Action

Day One - Democracy in Action
Wow! Our children have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be part of an exciting, real life democratic experience when choosing our Pupil Parliament for 2019-20.
A huge thank you to Councillor Rob Higgins (and Governor at Broadwood) for sharing his community roles and responsibilities with the children and lending us real life voting stations and ballot boxes.
To begin the process,  Key Stage 2 children listened to some of our teachers pitching their favourite biscuits; all hilarious and very competitive! The children then took to the polling stations to vote for the best biscuit. The votes were dropped into the ballot boxes, counted and the winner revealed; 'chocolate digestive' - pitched by the one and only Mrs Brooks-Tyreman.
A huge thank you to Rob Higgins and his colleagues for their support.
